Hi I'm Anna Cleland. I have worked in the world of employee engagement and career transition for over 20 years and I am passionate about increasing people's happiness at work.
I believe life really is too short to be unhappy. I also believe that if you don't like something - change it, somehow, or at least try to. We all spend a good proportion of our lives at work, so I want to enable people to take control and make decisions that make them happier. Because if people thrive, so too does everything around them.
Having spent years in the world of career management and outplacement I ended up as a Director of a multi-disciplinary HR consultancy in London. I was fortunate enough to lead a research project on employee engagement with Henley Management College and was so inspired by the outcomes of this research that I set up my own employee engagement consultancy, Ixia.
For the last 10 years, I've been successfully running Ixia. I've built up a trusted reputation with a portfolio of flagship brands running surveys, developing managers, evaluating culture and convincing senior leaders that their actions impact how people feel about their organisation. However, throughout this time, I have become more and more aware of the flaws of engagement surveys and completely understand why some organisations have become very frustrated with the lack of change in the metrics, despite valiant efforts to improve their organisations.
workhappy has been brewing as a concept in my mind for years, but only in the last 12 months have all the pieces slotted into place.
Thanks to an amazing team around me, workhappy is now coming to life. An app for anyone, on their phones, tablets or laptops that will give them the opportunity to reflect properly on how they are feeling about work. Most importantly, the app will guide them to evaluate these and determine a practical and effective course of action to make positive changes - just as a great coach would do.
I have been lucky enough to benefit from the value of brilliant coaching. Simple techniques that have had the most profound impact on me and have been used religiously throughout my career. However most people are not afforded the 'luxury' of coaching expertise and in my opinion this is a travesty.
We are on an exciting journey - I hope you agree? We've got lots and lots of ideas about how we need to develop and grow the app. We've already built a sizeable chunk but before we go any further we want to gather some insights from our prospective customers to guide our thinking and help us develop a product that would make a positive impact in your organisation and that you want to buy.
